該如何向外國客戶介紹台北？

在外國人的眼裡，台灣可是個好地方，而且從某些角度來看還是世界第一呢！
台灣的夜市，讓人在夜晚有地方可以流連忘返。便利的捷運和公車系統、相對
較低的犯罪率、24小時的便利商店和書店，這些特色讓台北市進入美國網站
BuzzFeed調查的「26 Remarkable Places For Solo Travel（26個適合一個人旅
行的城市）」排行之中。

BuzzFeed網站是如何看我們的夜市呢？它說：

Just imagine hundreds of street-food carts and pop-up stores all in a 10-block stretch. Experience the food, the fashion, the culture — all for a pretty decent price.（想像一下上百攤的路邊美食以及快閃服裝展售店散佈在10條街幅員的區域。去體驗一下這裡的美食、時尚、文化 — 全都價位便宜。）

BuzzFeed用street-food carts來形容我們的夜市小吃攤，cart（推車）是
多益測驗聽力部份的高頻字，它常與car（車）和card（卡片）共同出現，
形成「相似混淆音」。

BuzzFeed是如何看台北的生活開銷水平呢？它說：

…, but some tourists might find it to be on the expensive side compared with mainland China. Still cheaper than Japan, it’s quite possible to get by on very little once you arrive in Taipei.（…，與中國相較，有些觀光客也許覺得台北算是昂貴。但仍比日本便宜的多；一旦當你到達台北，你大可以靠很少的錢過活。）

片語get by on…有「靠…過活」之意。值得一學的是句中once的用法，它
可不是「一次」，而是當連接詞的「一旦」。

例句：

Once they get the financial support, their problems will be solved.（一旦他們
得到財務援助，他們的問題就將解決。）

BuzzFeed又是如何看待一個人遊台北的安全顧慮呢？它說：

Petty theft. While the general crime rate in the rest of Taiwan is said to be increasing or staying the same, the crime rate in Taipei is actually decreasing.（有小竊案。雖然據說台灣其他地區的一般犯罪率是在增加或持平，但是台北市的犯罪率正在下降。）

BuzzFeed用「一般犯罪率」（the general crime rate）來看台北一人旅行的
安全顧慮，因此我們學到到了「犯罪率」的英語說法是crime rate。此外，
while有兩種用法，一是「當…」，但在此句中是另一用法的連接詞「然而、
雖然、儘管」，它常出現在多益測驗的閱讀部份。

如果你經常看一些這種旅遊小報導，那麼《多益測驗官方全真試題指南Ⅲ》閱
讀部份的題目可就都難不倒你了：

Emone Motor Company has not ________ any delays in production or delivery
to dealerships this quarter.

(A) exerted
(B) submitted
(C) represented
(D) experienced

解析：

本題的正確答案是(D)。experience當名詞用時，雖然是指「經驗」，但是它
亦可當動詞使用，意指「經歷、體驗、遭受」。本句即當動詞使用，指Emone
汽車公司在本季的生產或經銷配送上，沒有遭受任何延誤。

答案(A)是「行使、運用」、答案(B)是「提交、呈送」、答案(C)是「代表」，
皆不符句意。

experience當動詞的用法在前述適合一個人旅行的城市一文中，曾有提到，因為
BuzzFeed要各國單人旅客去「體驗一下台北價廉的美食、時尚、文化」：
Experience the food, the fashion, the culture — all for a pretty decent price。

BuzzFeed還說台北市到處都有接受外國銀行卡的提款機，以及台北市對各種外國
遊客友善與提供協助上，素有美名：

There is no shortage of cash machines that accept foreign cards. Taipei has a reputation of being very friendly and helpful to tourists of all kinds.
